This year, Hip Hop You Don’t Stop celebrated its 15th anniversary combining the essential in-person events and has also proposed, for the first time, online activities in order to stay connected with the CDN NDG community in a COVID 19 pandemic context. We are grateful for the financial support of Canadian Heritage, Ville de Montréal and the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

This particular situation opened the door to diverse programming extending from August to November 2020. ,
The HHYDS2020 team gathered to present the following free and accessible events:
– A collaboration with NDG Arts Week showcasing NDG based artists and giving space for a community talk.
– The creation of a neighborhood mural in collaboration with Walkley Center summer camp teen group on the chalet of Patinoire Bleu-Blanc-Rouge at Confederation park. Artwork created by Zek One and assisted by Sobez.
– A series of workshops focused on health and movement, presented by RGMT Bartendaz, presented both online and at Walkley Center’s parking lot.
– Weekly online courses covering various Hip Hop dance styles such as Breaking, Popping, Locking and Krumping (this last one was in-person Walkley Center’s parking lot )
– An online conversation with Leah McFly, the creator of creative educational platform McFly World Kids
– An online writing workshop and open-mic session with the Rap Battle for Social Justice
– A live-streamed trilingual cypher in collaboration with international beat-making event series Loop Sessions.
The team of Hip Hop You Don’t Stop has put up a memorable edition although many challenges have marked the season. Resilience and authentic communication have been in the core of this year’s teachings.
