When moving:

• Wrap dishes in towels instead of newspaper bulbe

• Ask the SAQ for leftover boxes instead of buying them

•Use eco-friendly paint on your walls

•Clean walls with eco-friendly products or water before painting

•Rent a truck rather than doing several trips with a small car

• When renovating, re-use bricks and wood (or anything else salvageable)

• Check the forecast before mowing the lawn

• Don`t use the dishwashers dry cycle

•Use baking soda to absorb smell rather than using febreeze type products

•Use solar powered outdoor lights

•Line dry in summer

• Re-use things like toilet paper, Kleenex boxes and egg cartons for children`s crafts

•Use cloth rather than paper towel

•Put up junk mail stickers

•Unplug appliances when not in use

•Leave grass clippings after you mow the lawn – keeps them out of the landfill and is good for grass

• Invest in a non-plastic shower curtain (will last longer)

•Turn old sheets, t-shirts and socks into cleaning rags

•Arrange furniture to take advantage of natural light

•Re-use margarine and yogurt tubs for leftover food

•Turn off the oven 10 minutes in advance – food will keep cooking but save energy

•Don`t throw out water after boiling pasta or anything else-put it in a watering can for later use on plants

•Paint house in dark colours to absorb more heat in the winter
