Buy Nothing Day is an international day of boycott against excessive consumerism and the negative impact that this has on the environment.

It was originally started in Vancouver in 1992 and promoted by Adbusters, a consumer and citizen advocacy magazine. It has since become a worldwide event for society to examine the issue of over-consumption and to encourage people to boycott Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year in the United States and one which has become increasingly present here in Québec and Canada.

The Éco-quartier NDG celebrates Buy Nothing Day every year!
