Reusable diapers and sustainable hygiene products

Côte-des-Neiges et Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough has launched a grant program for reusable diapers and sustainable menstrual products. With This program you can not only save money on these items, but you can also reduce your ecological footprint.
This two-year pilot project implementation is aimed at encouraging citizens to adopt eco-responsible behaviours while curbing the amount of waste they produce. For more information from the borough website click HERE.

1) Reusable diapers
• Purchase of a minimum of 20 reusable diapers (new or used)
• Purchase of fabric used to make reusable diapers
• Use of a washable diaper rental service
Amount of the subsidy
Regular program:
• 50% (maximum of 120$) for the purchase of reusable diapers
• 10$ per month for 12 months – reusable diaper rental service (120$)
Subsidize program for low-income families:
• 200$ for the purchase of reusable diapers (purchase value of at least 200$)
• 17$ per month towards the use of a reusable diaper rental service for 12 months (maximum of 204$)

2) Sustainable hygiene products
• Purchase of sustainable hygiene products (menstrual cup, washable sanitary napkins, washable period underwear, sponges)
• Purchase of fabric used to make washable sanitary napkin
Amount of the subsidy:
• 50% of the purchase cost (up to 100$ per person for a period of two year)

Eligibility criteria
For all
• Be a resident of NDG
• Submit the duly completed form and supporting documents within three months of purchase (you can find it HERE)
• Provide a void cheque
Purchase of washable diapers
• Have one child aged 24 months or under
• Purchase ate least 20 new or used washable diapers
• Purchase fabric to make a set of at least 20 diapers (between 10 and 20 meters of various fabrics and notions)
• Commit to using the washable diapers acquired with the subsidy for as long as your child wears diapers
• Submit only one application per eligible child
Rental of washable diapers
• Have one child aged 24 months or under
• Secure a rental service contract for at least 12 months
• Commit to using the washable diapers acquired with the subsidy for as long as your child wears diapers
• Submit only one application per eligible child
Supplement for low income families
• Have a net families income of $51,340 or less
Purchase of sustainable menstrual products
• Purchase sustainable menstrual products of any kind (menstrual cup, washable sanitary napkins, washable period underwear, sponges)
• Purchase material to make washable sanitary napkins
• Submit only one application per eligible person and per two-year period
