Every spring and fall the CDN-NDG borough offers leaf and garden waste collection for garden and landscaping waste (leaves, grass, weeds, and dead plants) and small branches (no more than 1 metre long and 5 centimetres in diameter). Collecting and composting green waste is good for the environment and easy to do.
Green waste collection: The collection will take place on Wednesdays: 10 collections this fall: Wednesdays from September 14th to November 16th.
Plastic bags have been found to jam machines which turn the compost, and because of this many machines were broken. For that reason, plastic bags are discouraged for green waste. Please use paper bags or reusable containers.
In an effort to slow down the progression of the Emerald Ash Borer (a tree parasite), residents are required to separate branches with a diameter of more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the normal green waste collection. The branches must be bundled together and put out separate from the green waste (branch collection starts after October 15th when the ash borer becomes dormant).
Free Compost ! Saturday, October 8th in Park NDG (from 10am-noon)
